Then, in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics, and was trained to become an classical ballerina. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution focused on theater and dance. Contractor began acting at age 16, following nearly 10 years of dancing. After she completed high school with a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she was a theatre student with a dual degrees in Sociology and Psychology. Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following a brief time at University. She was a part of the audition for the role during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 performances of the play. She was given the chance to be a part of the Stratford Conservatory. The school allows only eight males and four woman to take a course in traditional theatre. Contractor was eager to accept. Contractor got a place in the next season of shows and eventually landed the role of Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
